Farewell Sydney!!!!

Finally after several farewells in Sydney, our big finale at Zachery's was definately a tearful one and a very surreal belief that this was it...we said goodbye to all our friends
for an absence of 2 years. It was really good to see such a big turn-out for us. Those who came, we'd like to express a big thankyou, and those that didn't..... well, you know who you are!

So, at 1am we came to the decision that it was time to actuallt say "goodbye" to everybody, and to finally try and get some rest after a week of farewells and too little sleep. As we all know, sleep is over-rated.

Once we caught up on a bit of sleep, the time had come for some serious organising for our flight. We moved the final pieces of our life out of Sal & Gerry's place (Thankyou guys again so much for having us!) and headed off to the North Shore for 1 final sleep in Sydney.

Next morning we ventured to Sydney Airport with both families in tow. Had one last rememberable Sydney lunch..... one that most definately should be forgotten, a crap airport meal. Defintaley should've feasted on Oportos one last time. After final tears were shedded, we headed through customs - the doorway to our lives for the next 2 years.

We had very cleverly decided to go to Japan via Thailand which made the trip a lenghty 16 hours. Something that is less desired by those who are well hungover with sleep deprivation, and for one - feeling very fluey made the plane trip one big snot fest. Sophi, ending up with one whopper of a red nose...with little regard for the fact that I may unleashed some lethal flu into Japan.

As we had originally planned to spend a month in Thailand prior to Japan, something that was abolished due to Cam's broken ankle, spending an hour in the airport was merely a tease.

Finally we reached our long awaited new island home!

Hello Japan!!!

We stepped off the plane into a confusion of a MILLION trains and trainlines. we were given some ray of light in this asian world with most things being written in romanji (english).

After a very brief introduction to the mega metro puzzle that was Japan, we wandered into the, at first, unrealistic world of Shibuya to meet our guides James and Dave Meier. A place we were later to learn was to be one of the key areas of our daily lives.

Neon signs sky high, massive outdoor screens with sound and music blasting from them. Most amusing of all was the orange eyebrowed and haired Japanese girls clopping their petite heeled feet through the streets in what felt like 40 degree heat.

Just SO many people! All this brought this animated world to life. Something photos will just never justify.

People had warned us about Japans summer, something you just can't imagine....98% humidity and 35 degree heat = some very sweaty and sticky skinned aussies.
