Trashy relaxing!

Our first weekend in September called for some relaxation. The first month in Tokyo had been wild. We headed to Komazawa Park on Sunday for some Badminton with Dave, Kumiko and James. We played a little mixed doubles, and realised how unfit we were after about half an hour. It was so nice to get some fresh air in the park, instead of being in the city all the time, we will definitely be utilising this park more.

Sophi's skills came shining through today

Around where we live it is not uncommon to see people walking their dogs in prams, with the dogs all dressed up in little outfits sporting the latest doggy fashion. Sometimes the dogs even have their own handbags and shoes! Quite extreme.

Oh, the little princess

Very tired, late that night we reluctantly went out to Roppongi for American James' birthday, and Kareem's farewell. It was a typical gaijin party with some R&B flavour on the dance floor. Some of Sophi's work friends were there though, it was good to meet them over a few drinks.

As it was relatively close to Cam's birthday also, he and American James' stood at the bar and had a few too many Slippery Nipples (Mum and Dad....they're shots).

Dave is not trashed (i think)

We left for the last train so as to not get involved in yet another all night affair. American James arrived at work on Monday morning looking very pale, and for some reason was not in a very talkative mood that day.

On Friday we went to Shinjuku for some sightseeing. We visited a Samurai sword museum, we were basically the only people there, and when we asked any Japanese people about it, none of them had even heard of it! It ended up being very intriguing..... as much as museums can get really. But appreciation for the beauty of the designs was apparent.

We walked around checking the amazing architecture of the business area of Tokyo. There are some really spectacular buildings there.

On the way back to the station we stumbled across a Kimono museum. Which consisted of Kimonos, No costumes (traditional theatre costumes) and a room dedicated to silk worm history. We very hastily did the tour and bailed for work. Just something that must be done in respect to the traditional culture of Japan.

It's the Louvre!

That night after work the dangerous 3 crew (Sophi, Cam & James) hit it up old school style. Just chilling in the bedroom drinking excessive amounts of alcohol. While Cam almost passes out, James and Sophi rap a lame battle for hours just like old times.... mixed with other craziness good times were had as always.

With 2 hours sleep under our belts it was time to depart for a Brazilian Festival in Yoyogi Park, near Shibuya. So James and Cam left Sophi to sleep, and wobbly made their way to the station.

The Festivity

The atmosphere at the festival was a little dull. There was a lot of food stalls and places making some not so tasty Caipirinha's. Kumiko and Dave rocked up and we took some shelter under some trees and just chilled for the afternoon. The lack of sleep and alcohol was starting to take its toll.

We wrapped it up at about 8.30pm and headed of for an izakaya in Gotanda (where Sophi works) for her work welcoming party. We were both in quite a state by this stage, not a problem though as they all seem like a bunch of trash bags too! While Cam ate bucket loads, Sophi struggled to get a mouth full down due to each spoonful almost causing projectiles. Nothing a few drinks didn't fix.

The night digressed after dinner and we all made a wise decision that we do karaoke till the first train came at 5a.m. With 16 people it made it a very cheap session.
By 4am and many drinks later, the last two days had taken its toll so we said our goodbyes and took a cab home.
